Recycled aerated concrete granules measuring 2 to 6 mm are used as a dry, load-bearing levelling fill in the Staenis grid. Choose boards to suit the grid and floor finish. Where OSB/Durelis forms the load-bearing deck, the current Staenis guide describes, among other options, 22 mm preferably with the green dry-floor grid, or two layers of 12 + 18 mm on the black-and-yellow grid. Suitable dry-screed elements can be placed directly or with an intermediate board over compacted fill providing full support, according to their system instructions; 22 mm OSB is therefore not a universal requirement. The granules regulate moisture. Install them dry and check dryness before covering; a fixed threshold of 20 °C does not determine moisture absorption, moisture release or readiness for installation.

The substrate must be dry, stable and non-flexing. Fix the grid feet with PU foam, fill the grid, level the granules and compact them for stability.
